Sensitive skin reacts quickly to external triggers such as temperature changes, unsuitable skincare, or certain ingredients. Redness, tightness, or irritation are typical signs. A targeted routine helps calm the skin and gently build up its resilience.

Step 1: Facial cleansing
The first and perhaps most important step of sustainable skincare is regular facial cleansing, which should be done every morning and evening with a cleanser suited to your skin type. In the evening, cleansing removes makeup, environmental impurities, excess sebum, and all residues from the skin’s surface, helping to prevent blackheads and inflammation. In the morning, it is just as important because the skin regenerates overnight and releases sweat and sebum.

How to use

Step 2: Exfoliation
An exfoliant removes dead skin cells from the surface that make the complexion look dull. Fresh, clean skin can absorb subsequent skincare products better and keeps its natural glow. Exfoliation also stimulates the formation of new skin cells, which slows down with age, making it an ideal anti-aging treatment in the fight against skin aging. Especially with oily and blemish-prone skin, dead skin flakes clog the pores and can make them look enlarged. Together with excess sebum, they create an ideal breeding ground for bacteria that can cause inflammation and acne. Clogged pores usually cannot be cleared with cleanser alone, so an exfoliant or a so-called deep-cleansing exfoliating mask is the ideal product here. Regular exfoliation is also necessary for pigmentation issues caused by hormones or UV radiation to remove discoloured skin cells. Depending on the exfoliant and skin condition, it can be used 1 to 5 times per week.

Step 3: Mask – rich hydrating mask

It should be applied after exfoliation because the pores are then cleansed and well opened and can absorb the extra actives best.

Step 4: Toner – facial toner

Sprays are usually more economical because they do not remain in the cotton pad and can also include ingredients that act like serums.

Step 6: Cream - face cream
The final step of your daily skincare routine is a protective and nourishing cream, also called a moisturizer.
It is formulated according to skin type: for oily skin without oils and with high hydration, or for dry skin with additional rich, nourishing lipids. It forms a protective film on the skin’s surface and is available as a 24-hour cream or as separate day and night creams. Day cream is usually lighter and contains more hydration, while night cream is often richer because the skin’s regeneration mechanisms work at night and it then absorbs more active ingredients. Some brands prefer the opposite approach and skip night cream. Everyone should find what works best for them.
Day creams can also be lightly tinted and/or enriched with an integrated sun protection factor.
