Step 1: Facial cleansing
The first and perhaps most important step of sustainable skincare is regular facial cleansing, which should be done every morning and evening with a cleanser suited to your skin type. In the evening, cleansing removes makeup, environmental impurities, excess sebum, and residues from the skin’s surface, helping to prevent blackheads and inflammation. In the morning, it is just as important, because the skin regenerates overnight and releases sweat and sebum.

Step 2: Exfoliation
An exfoliant removes dead skin cells from the surface that make the complexion look dull. Fresh, clean skin absorbs subsequent skincare products better and retains its natural glow. Exfoliation also stimulates cell renewal, which slows down with age, making it an ideal anti-aging treatment. Especially for oily or blemish-prone skin, dead skin flakes can clog pores and make them appear enlarged. Clogged pores usually cannot be cleared with cleanser alone, so an exfoliant or a deep-cleansing exfoliating mask is ideal. How to use
Cleanse the face, apply the mask, and ideally smooth it with a facial roller. Leave on for about 10–20 minutes and relax. Then remove the sheet mask and gently pat the remaining serum into the skin.
Step 4: Toner – facial toner
A toner clarifies the skin after each cleanse. It should be formulated without denatured alcohol to avoid damaging or drying out the skin barrier. It can be applied as a spray or with a cotton pad. This also removes any remaining traces of cleansing or exfoliating products. Sprays are usually more economical and may contain serum-like ingredients.

Step 6: Cream – facial cream
The final step of your daily skincare routine is a protective and nourishing cream, also called a moisturizer.
It is formulated according to skin type: for oily skin without oils and with high hydration, or for dry skin with additional rich, nourishing lipids. It forms a protective film on the skin’s surface and is available as a 24-hour cream or as separate day and night creams.
